The Bongo RX Starter Kit is a reusable Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP) therapy device designed for adults with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and habitual snoring.
It is intended for individuals who prefer an alternative to traditional PAP therapy, who do not respond to, are not appropriate candidates for, or who struggle with CPAP treatment.
Unlike conventional CPAP machines, Bongo RX works without hoses, bulky masks or continuous airflow. The device consists of soft nasal EPAP valves inserted gently into the nostrils (nares), creating controlled back pressure during exhalation to support airway stability during sleep.
How Bongo RX Works
Bongo RX works by creating resistance during exhalation.
- During inhalation, small valves open to allow you to inhale normally through the device
- During exhalation, airflow is gently restricted through calibrated vent holes
- This generates Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP), helping maintain upper airway patency
Nasal dilation combined with EPAP technology may support improved airway function during sleep, making Bongo RX a potential alternative to PAP therapy for mild-to-moderate OSA.

Important Suitability Information
This device is intended for use in mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea.
Please note: If you have an Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index (AHI) greater than 30 (more than 30 episodes per hour), this is classified as severe obstructive sleep apnoea. This device may not provide adequate therapy in cases of severe OSA. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for personalised advice.
Getting Used to Bongo RX
It is important to understand that Bongo RX can take time to adapt to. Many Australian sleep physicians recommend consistent nightly use during the initial adjustment period.
- Your initial goal should be to fall asleep while wearing Bongo RX
- It is normal to wake during the first few nights of use
- If you cannot return to sleep, remove the device and try again the next night
- Consistency is key, missing a night may delay acclimatisation
On average, most users take 10–15 nights to fully adapt. Each successful night helps your body become more accustomed to the therapy.
Helpful Tip: When trying to fall asleep, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Once asleep, most people naturally return to nasal breathing.
